14-15 HAMBURG AWAY SHIRT
With a clever & subtle integration of the club crest into the main body of a shirt , the famous Hamburg diamond crest is almost subliminal in it’s effect and as close as it gets to an optical illusion without ruining what is actually one of the smartest away shirts we’ve seen this season.
14-15 REAL MADRID 3RD SHIRT
There is probably only one team that could have carried off such a bold and audacious design without risking scorn & derision and that is Real Madrid. The Yohji Yamamoto dragon design has proved a huge hit with most sports retailers sold out within days of the launch.
14-15 1860 MUNICH OKTOBERFEST EDITION SHIRT
FC Bayern’s city rivals, 1860, have claimed the association with the Oktoberfest for themselves with their now traditional launch of a limited edition design to coincide with the start of the month-long beer festival. This was the the best design yet and the strict limited release helped ensure it’s highly-prized status was protected for another 12 months.
14-15 ARSENAL AWAY SHIRT
In their first season of a 10 year contract with Arsenal it was vital for Puma to win over the fans with a strong link to the club’s past. The traditional yellow & blue away kit was always a safe bet and this design has gone down extremely well. Aaron Ramsey’s wonder strike against Galatasaray will also ensure the shirt gains a degree of cult-status & immortality.
14-15 JAPAN HOME SHIRT
A good design so often depends on the performance of a team in order to become a great design. Sadly Honda, Kagawa, Uchida & co. could not lift the team out of the World Cup group stages to give this shirt the veneer of success and endorsement it required.
13-14 FC MADUREIRA GK SHIRT
Every design tells a story. This shirt was included as much for the story behind it as the actual design itself. Full marks from the staff at lowly Brazilian 3rd division club, FC Madureira, for exploiting their unique historical ties to the world’s most iconic revolutionary on the 50th anniversary of their tour to Cuba and pre-match presentation to comrade Che.
14-15 BAYERN MUNICH HOME SHIRT
With many similarities to the 95-96 home shirt worn by Klinsmann, Papin & Matthäus this design has gone down extremely well with Bayern fans whose only disappointment is that their team will not be able to wear the Club World Cup Badge on the shirt for the 2nd half of the season.
2014 GERMANY HOME SHIRT
Great designs are forged by great memories and Mario Götzes late strike against Argentina means this design forever written into football shirt folklore.
14-15 REAL MADRID AWAY SHIRT
In many ways just as groundbreaking as the 3rd shirt, this pink away shirt has proved a resounding success with it’s popularity no doubt boosted by the post-champions league euphoria and signings of World Cup stars, James Rodriguez & Toni Kroos.
14-15 ARGENTINA HOME SHIRT
A classic kit with an updated badge and some subtle additional touches to the stripes. Some kits are best left well alone from any major changes and this is one of them.
14-15 PSG HOME SHIRT
The current champions of Ligue 1, PSG’s Home shirt features a unique neckline and v-collar, dominated by an eye-catching vertical red and white stripe on the front which continues on to the back of the shirt.
14-15 BELGIUM HOME SHIRT
Every neutral fan’s favourite for the World Cup, Belgium also gained widespread praise for it’s innovative team kit design – fresh & dynamic ideas to launch an exciting new era in Belgian football. The pre-tournament hype was sadly not quite matched on the pitch.
14-15 BELGIUM AWAY SHIRT
The black Belgium Away kit may not have been the ideal on-pitch colour for deflecting the harsh Brazilian sun but it easily edged out the other National Team away kits for sheer style & elegance at the fan festivals & sports bars back home.
14-15 COLOMBIA HOME SHIRT
One of the biggest selling shirts during the World Cup, this striking design was carried to the latter stages of the tournament by easily the most exciting, vibrant and entertaining of the South American teams. It was also worn for the official FIFA Goal of the Tournament.
CD LUGO SPECIAL EDITION GK SHIRT
Spanish 2nd Division side, CD Lugo, have come up with a clever way of fusing sponsorship with kit design to promote a local brewery as well as the regional Galician delicacy of Octopus.
14-15 CAMEROON HOME SHIRT
The 2014-15 Cameroon Home shirt was the best of another brave attempt by Puma to strengthen the individual identity of their African national team kits by incorporating strong local symbols & patterns into the overall fabric.
14-15 BENFICA HOME SHIRT
A club currently without the financial might of Manchester, London or Madrid but still having a rich and colourful history to draw inspiration from – this shirt incorporates elements from the famous Lisbon compass mosaic.
14-15 ZAMBIA HOME SHIRT
A clean minimalist overall design using a strong West African fabric print to make it stand out from the crowd. Had Zambia qualified for the World Cup this shirt design would have gained many more plaudits.
14-15 SPARTAK MOSCOW AWAY SHIRT
Pleasing on the eye, the 14-15 Spartak Moscow away shirt just edged out the home shirt for it’s overall clean look. The diamond mesh pattern pays homage to the Spartak crest which has been enlarged and positioned to the centre of the shirt.
14-15 NAPOLI AWAY SHIRT
With a fraction of the resources of the major brands, Macron continue to muscle their way into the professional football kit market with some bold & innovative designs. On the back of their exaggerated camouflage shirts from last season Napoli have this season been given the denim look with a well-worked and very realistic fabric print.
