Christmas is a special time of year but there’s one thing that, often, can’t be avoided. That’s right, strange presents. Someone buys you a present and you’re just not sure what it is or why you’ve received it.
Football club shops have some weird and wonderful things available for purchase. Some genius, some a little odd and some just downright strange!
Well here we have a look at some of the more off the wall items available for purchase from club shops.
All of these are brilliant…
PAOK Beard Care Kit
Beards are more popular now than ever before, it seems, and all those beards means lots of beard care.
I don’t have a beard so I don’t know what’s involved in beard care but Greek club PAOK seem to know and so have released this PAOK ‘Men Beard’ kit. Not sure what makes it PAOK but it is!
Hannover 96 Screwdrivers
German football, the Bundesliga, Hannover…Screwdrivers? What? I don’t know if the fact that these are Hannover 96 screwdrivers actually helps with screwing stuff in or not but I love that they’ve even bothered to make these.
Surely a screwdriver is a screwdriver but no! Not anymore. Not with these Hannover 96 screwdrivers.
Avai FC Cheeseboard
“This cheese is nice but do you know what would make it EVEN better? If it was cut with an Avai FC cheese knife”
Brazilian second division side Avai FC felt it necessary to not only sell shirts, key rings and calendars, but also a cheese board, and again, I love it.
LA Galaxy Drumsticks
Have you ever been in that situation where you’re happily drumming away but everyones asking you what team you support? Well not anymore thanks to these LA Galaxy drumsticks!
Again, I don’t know if the LA Galaxy crest suddenly turns you into Keith Moon or not but the fact LA Galaxy decided to make and sell them is just brilliant.
Borussia Monchengladbach Man Hole Cover
I love this one. It’s so unnecessary yet so necessary. I didn’t know I needed a Borussia Monchengladbach man hole cover until I saw this. If you have a drain cover in your garden or driveway and you support ‘The Foals’ then go for it, but I can’t imagine seeing this in the street anywhere…unfortunately.
FC Twente Thong…yes….Thong
All football clubs will sell shirts, scarves, gloves, hats, jumpers & coats. Some might sell slippers, dressing gowns and towels. But I’ve never come across a club selling a thong. I can’t imagine it’s the most romantic thing to reveal on Valentines Day, not unless you really really love FC Twente. Definitely a strange on to unwrap in front of your family.
Only the Dutch are zany enough to make a club themed thong, I like that they’ve done it but I’m also a bit unnerved. Fair play to anyone who wears one (pictures not necessary…).
So when Christmas morning rolls around and you’re opening that jumper your granny knitted you or the Tottenham DVD when you support Arsenal, just remember…it could be worse.
